The organisation
How CIIIC is structured: a programme team, four implementing partners and external bodies that contribute and provide oversight.
CIIIC is the stimulus programme for Immersive Experiences (IX) and runs until 2029. It is funded by the National Growth Fund, falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) and is organisationally embedded in ClickNL.
Programme team and implementing partners
The programme team is the heart of CIIIC’s delivery. It is supported by four implementing partners that ‘make’ the programme, as much as possible through existing schemes and facilities:
- NWO/Regieorgaan SIA deploys existing shorter- and longer-term research schemes.
- Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie deploys the Artistic and Design Research scheme for its ADRIE call (Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences).
- RVO uses the Innovation Impact Challenge as an instrument for calls.
- TNO connects a national network of existing facilities into a single ecosystem of IX Labs.
Each of these partners is also represented in the programme team through a liaison.
Oversight and advice
Alongside the team, CIIIC has two external bodies. The supervisory committee monitors the quality, relevance and societal impact of the programme at arm’s length and advises the Ministry of OCW. The advisory board provides solicited and unsolicited advice on the substantive direction, with representatives from the IX community: creators, researchers, education specialists and commissioning parties.
And then there is the community itself: the growing network of creators, researchers, companies and institutions around immersive experiences in the Netherlands.
